She was an active member of the Swarthmore Presbyterian Church and the Providence Garden Club of Pennsylvania and was always eager to lend a hand or a smile to a friend in need.Throughout her life Marilyn enjoyed wonderful experiences at her homes in Redding, Conn., Hazelton, Pa., Seabrook Island, S. However, the place she held most dear in her later years was her summer cottage on Capitol Island, Maine, where she enjoyed days on the porch reminiscing about Mouse Island memories, watching the lobstermen pull traps, and waving to friends as they sailed by.After graduating from high school, Jan moved to live with her only sister, Marian, in Washington, D. Soon afterward they moved to San Diego, where Albert worked in the aviation industry and all five of their children were born.After ten years in San Diego they headed to the Seattle area for a year before moving to Swarthmore, Pa., where they lived for some 20 years as they raised their family.She was a loving grandmother to 14 grandchildren — Aidan, Stephen and Jordan Marzo (Stephen); Andrew, Tim and Chris Marzo (Phil); Matthew, Emily, Kevin, Jacob and Mary Marzo (David), and Brady, Jack and Charlotte Kohn (Carolyn). After graduating from Wheaton College, Marilyn married the late Jay Hague, and was a teacher at New Canaan Country School.
She later moved to La Jolla, Calif., where she enjoyed working in property management. In each move she took great pride in creating a beautiful and loving home for her family.
